Hi Lyza!
Great post! Marketing experts have to realize that no matter how seemingly popular their business is at the moment, they are always just as good as their last marketing or sales pitch. Reinvention should always be the name of the game. All of us marketers and advertisers need to update our marketing styles and be open to changes so we can grow and move forward. Have you applied these tips to your present work already?

Joan, recommendation is always 1 portal per DNN install and that's the case we see 99% of our clients using so that's why the focus here. But for multiple portals per install I would recommend you edit your hosts file and use that for testing locally. Hope it helps.

I have several domains and hosting with GoDaddy, but will likely change to another provider because of this. First they started to allow adult activity (I don't want my sites sitting on the same servers as porn sites) but I overlooked that. This just shows what poor judgement they have. Thank you for clarifying this issue for us. I will do what I can to spread the word, including writing about it on my official company-endorsed blog.

I keep saying it should work both ways: Shut down RIAA or MPAA if any of their properties use a tweet or blog post without author permission!

This seems straightforward if you have only 1 portal per dnn install, but how do you handle it if you're running multiple portals off 1 install? What portal alias should you set up for each? Is it necessary to specify a port or can you just use "localhost"?

Great overview of some fine CMSes! Regarding Joomla, the CMS has been around since 2005 and is a fork of Mambo which actually puts its history back to 2000 making it older than any of the other CMSes mentioned. The Joomla 1.7 upgrade is huge and has made development much more robust - especially for the enterprise. Upcoming versions will support Multidb (running Joomla on MySQL, MS SQL and Oracle) as well as Multisite (one instance of Joomla and multiple sites). It's an exciting time in the Joomla-sphere as well as for all CMSes.
