On its second year round, the Phizzpop event will encompass design, innovation, development, and creativity to solve a unique design challenge emphasizing the use of Microsoft Software for design and development.

The Phizzpop Tour Event will be stopping in New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and Austin between November of 2008 and March of 2009.

Before each event, the agency teams will be trained on the newest Microsoft technologies. Then they will be given a Design Challenge to solve.

Each agency that wins its local event will be flown to SXSW (South by South West) event in Austin, TX to compete against each other.

Web professionals across the U.S. and from around the world can also get into the action with the PhizzPop Online for creative inspiration, training and exposure.

Each contestant will be presented with a Design Challenge, which can be solved however the group or individual wishes. Submissions may be hosted in the Appliedi.net servers at no charge. Most of the already submitted challenges we have seen were done using Silverlight. Microsoft Silverlight is a new cross-browser, cross-platform implementation of the .NET Framework for the web. It runs in all popular browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Opera. The plugin required to run Silverlight is very small in size hence gets installed very quickly. For those of you not familiar with the power of Silverlight we have put together a small yet powerful showcase for you.
