It would be old news to talk about the explosion of social media
in the past several years. If you're like our team, you probably
already have a personal account on at least one social networking
destination, such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, or Twitter.
The big social media story of 2009, however,
is that businesses are taking notice. Instead of seeing
social media as just an advertising opportunity, businesses
are beginning to use these tools to form direct and more personal
relationships with their customers. Social media, especially
for online businesses, has opened a new frontier in marketing.
Last month we launched our Applied Innovations
Facebook page. (The link in the March newsletter stopped working
for some users, so try it again if you were unable to visit
us before at http://www.appliedi.net/facebook).
This
month, we are launching a presence on Twitter. You can follow
us at http://www.twitter.com/appliedi.
Unlike Facebook, Twitter enables users to post short and concise
status updates. We will use our Twitter account to keep our
customers updated on service changes, new features, and other
news affecting our hosting services.
How does your business benefit (or not) from
social media? Please write on our Facebook wall or send in a
reply via Twitter! |
