Q. | How do I log in to SiteBuilder once I have my account information?
|
|
A. | Only use this option if you have previously created a site under Guest mode or if you have previously published the site and you are simply updating the content.
http://sitebuilder.appliedi.net/admin http://sitebuilder.appliedi.net/adminwill allow you to login so that you may make changes and publish your site.
NOTE: First time users must visit http://sitebuilder.appliedi.net and follow the wizard. This feature is only available to appliedi.net customers.

|
Q. | I have successfully published with Sitebuilder but my new site does not show when I browse to the URL
|
|
A. | This is probably due to your default document not being properly set. In order to do this you must log into your control panel by going control.appliedi.net. Update the default document settings under your domain's website
settings to default.aspx and default.htm

|
Q. | Can I use SiteBuilder to edit my site once it has been published?
|
|
A. | Sitebuilder keeps a copy of your site on its local database therefore it will allow you to edit your site as many times as you wish. This means you may add, removed, or edit templates and content as many times as you wish. However, once you elimiate Sitebuilder to edit your web (by means of Web Expression, FrontPage, or Dreamweaver, to name a few editors) it will not see the changes you have made with the third party HTML editor and it will simply overwrite these changes if you try using Sitebuilder as your publisher.
|
|
Q. | Can I use another web editor to modify my site?
|
|
A. | Yes, Sitebuilder's OpenArchitechture will allow you to modify any changes with a third party HTML Editor such as FrontPage, Expression Web, or Dreamweaver (all supported by Applied Innovations).
However, since Sitebuilder is a PUSH application (meaning that the content is stored on its local database and it is published or replicated to your site) it will not be able to read or modify any changes made outside of it's realm.

Q. | How do I publish my site in SiteBuilder?
|
|
A. | This scenario shows how to publish your SiteBuilder site via FTP. We have seen the best success by first going into your Applied Innovations Control Panel and going to the FTP Account Manager.
-
Delete the default yourdomain.com FTP account and create a new one. Set the path of the directory to be wwwroot.
-
Save this new account and, also make certain you have ASP.net 2.0/3 enabled on the Website Settings Page. Now, go to SiteBuilder and follow these steps:
-
Go to the Publish tab
-
Click Publish in the bottom right part of the Publish page.
- The publishing dialog box opens.
- Select the Publishing to Known FTP option.
- The fields for entering your host parameters appear. You
must use either the FTP server name as displayed in the
Control Panel or if SiteBuilder displays a drop down menu, please select
the server name as displayed in the Website Settings page of your
Control Panel (Example: WEB01.appleidi.net)
- Enter your FTP server IP address or the domain name in the Host
field.
- Enter the intended web address in the Website URL field.
If you get an error about the URL, use the temporary site URL
http://***.mytempweb.com
- Leave the FTP Path BLANK. This is important.
- Select the authentication type:
- Specify account option and provide the credentials for access to the server in the
Log In and Password fields.
- It should something look like this screenshot.
- Click OK.
- After you click OK, the system checks whether the publishing parameters are valid.
During this check the following error message may display: Some of the specified
FTP parameters are invalid. If so, you will be prompted to correct
the parameters. If the host parameters are correct, the publishing process will
start. You can track the progress of the publishing process and stop it at any moment
by clicking Cancel.
- To finish working with SiteBuilder, click Finish.
