This week’s announcement of Giving Innovations

ribbonWe believe the need for help is greater than ever and believe charities are being hit the hardest by a difficult economy.  We also believe that as a company that continues to see great growth, we’re obligated to help and thus we do.  Over the past few years we’ve been informally making charitable contributions to a handful of different organizations and this year we decided to extend those contributions and develop a formal plan.  As we were drafting up plans for our own charitable contributions this year, we wanted to include our customers and give them the opportunity to also help.  So we gave it some thought (lots of thought actually) and this week, we officially unveiled a new project we’re titling ‘Giving Innovations’.

What is Giving Innovations?

Each month we’ll take 10% of all new web hosting signups (Shared Hosting, Cloud Hosting / VPS Hosting & Managed Hosting are all included) to a pre-determined charity. For this month, it’s only fitting that we designate Breast Cancer Awareness as the charity for October 2010.

Why Breast Cancer Awareness?

Over the course of a lifetime, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2010, and nearly 40,000 can be expected to die from the disease. Breast cancer is much more easily treated and often curable if it is found early. And in fact, after increasing for more than 20 years, incidences of the disease decreased by about 2% per year from 1998 to 2007, particularly in women below the age of 50. These decreases are recognized to be partly due to earlier detection and increased awareness.

We chose “Susan G. Komen for the Cure” because it’s the global leader of the breast cancer movement. It’s the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

How can I help?

We’ve made it easy for you to help contribute to each month’s charity. By simply purchasing a new hosting account online at www.appliedi.net, 10% of the fees collected for those new signups will be donated to the charity designated for that month.

That’s right, by doing nothing more than buying web hosting (most likely something you were going to do anyway) you’ll be helping a great charity.  For example, if you purchased our flagship Windows Web Hosting plan, the VS-1 (which includes full support for ASP.NET 4.0, PHP 5, MySQL, SQL Server, and unlimited domain aliases) as a monthly plan for $24.95/month, we’ll contribute $2.50 to the charity. Want to give more?  Then purchase the same plan on an annual basis for $269.46, you’ll not only save an extra 10% over monthly subscription but we’ll give 10% of the $269.46 amount or $26.95 to the charity that month!

As I mentioned, each year we’ve helped a charity and this year we decided to start helping 12 a year. If you’re ready to help here’s what you can do:

  • Need hosting? – Purchase services from Applied Innovations: www.appliedi.net
  • Have hosting? – Buy more from Applied Innovations, www.appliedi.net
  • Buying hosting today? – Upgrade to annual prepayment, save money and contribute a larger portion.
  • Don’t need hosting but want to help? – Help promote our initiative by posting an announcement on your website, your Facebook page, your twitter feed, your LinkedIn status, your newsletter, etc. and help us spread the word that everyone can have great Windows hosting, save money and have a charitable contribution made at the same time.

So if you’re in the market for hosting or just looking to help please help spread the word.
