Windows Server Platform Security and Other Security Concerns for Businesses

One of the things that you have to worry about the most when you run a business is online security. Here are a few things that you should do to make sure your online security is up to snuff so that you don’t end up having any costly breaches in the future.

SSL Certificates

One important thing to do is to go with a web host that has SSL available.  A Secure Sockets Layer Certificate makes sure that the connection between the windows server platform where your site is running from the web host company and the browser used by one of your customers is encrypted and completely safe.

This way, any of your clients that want to use sensitive information on your site such as credit card numbers, login information, their social security number or anything else, can feel rest assured that no third party will be able to access it.

Examples of good versions of this to try are the Comodo Positive SSL and the Comodo Instant SSL.

Password Security

All of the normal warnings about password security apply to those running businesses, only here it’s even more important. This is because people are more likely to try to break into your account if you’re running a business, both because of the increased possibility of stealing money, but also because you’ll have more visibility.

You need to change your password frequently, and make sure the passwords aren’t easy to guess and that they have numbers, capital letters, and symbols in them. Ideally you should be changing your passwords every few weeks as a business owner.
